Schroeder’s financial report wins award

Buffalo Comptroller’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report receives Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association

Comptroller Mark J.F. Schroeder’s annual report on the City of Buffalo’s finances has earned the highest recognition given by the national organization of government finance professionals.

“We take pride in providing accurate and timely financial reports, and I am pleased to accept this honor on behalf of all of the hardworking professionals in the Department of Audit and Control, particularly the accounting division,” said Schroeder.

The City of Buffalo’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2011-2012, prepared by Schroeder’s department, was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association, a non-profit professional organization serving approximately 17,500 government finance officers.

“Buffalo’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story,” said Stephen Gauthier, director of the Government Finance Officers Association.

This is the seventh consecutive year Buffalo’s financial report has won the award, and Schroeder said that now that the 2012-2013 fiscal year has concluded on June 30, his department is diligently working on making it eight years straight.

“We are very confident that when we issue the 2012-2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report in December, it will win this award as well,” he said.
